Description
Banksia robur (Swamp Banksia) is a bold Australian native shrub that creates an instant feature in any landscape. Native to coastal Queensland and New South Wales, this hardy species thrives in moist conditions while adapting well to a range of garden settings. As a result, it is an excellent choice for feature planting, native gardens, rain gardens, wetland areas and wildlife-friendly landscapes.
The plant produces exceptionally large, leathery green leaves with deeply serrated edges, creating a dramatic architectural look throughout the year. In addition, the foliage develops a soft, pale underside that contrasts beautifully with the rich green upper surface, adding texture and visual interest from every angle.
During autumn and winter, striking flower spikes emerge in shades of bluish-green before gradually opening to yellow-green.
