Description

Eucalyptus deglupta is a fast-growing, huge evergreen tree, usually growing 35 – 60 metres tall, with occasional specimens up to 75 metres.
The bark is shed unevenly in strips, revealing the bright green new bark, which then darkens as it matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.
It is found at elevations from sea level to 1,800 metres in areas where the mean annual temperature is in the range 23 – 31°c and the mean annual rainfall is 2,500 – 5,000 mm.

* Native Habitat : Terrestrial (Primary Rainforest, Secondary Rainforest)
The only Eucalyptus species to grow in the humid rainforests, this species is now widely planted throughout the wet tropics of the world.
This is the only species of Eucalyptus that is adapted to lowland and lower montane rainforest habitats in the humid tropics.

* Preferred Climate Zone : Tropical, Sub-Tropical / Monsoonal
Plants are intolerant of frost.
Eucalyptus species have not adopted a deciduous habit and continue to grow until it is too cold for them to do so.
This makes them more susceptible to damage from sudden cold snaps.
Requires a sunny position with full overhead light.
The tree is highly sensitive to fires.
Prefers a humid, cooler tropical climate, unlike Eucalyptus species native to Australia.
