Description
This species has leaves 10-20 cm long and 6-14.5 cm wide, domatia are present.
The fruits are dark red to black in oval shape 2.5-4 cm long and 1.7-2.5 cm wide.
Grows in beach forest close to sea level.
Commonly cultivated on beaches in NEQ as it provides very good shade.
It is also used as a street tree in parts of Cairns.
Unfortunately the flowers produce a fetid odour which most people find unpleasant.
Inflorescence as long as or shorter than the leaves, bracts narrowly triangular, about 1 mm long, caducous.
Light preference : Full sun
Soil preference : Sandy
