Description
Melicope elleryana is an evergreen tree with a spreading crown; it can grow from 20 – 35 metres tall.
Plants can commence flowering when quite small.
The clusters of pink to mauve flowers are produced on the old wood below the leaves.
A sub-canopy to canopy tree, found in well developed rain forest on a variety of sites, often in the more open areas of secondary growth; at elevations from near sea level to 800 metres
Plants can tolerate mild to moderate frosts.
Requires a moist but well-drained soil.
Grows best in a position sheltered from strong winds.
