Description
The Sterling 6mm Auto Block 13.5″ Loop is a simple and strong cord loop used as a backup on long rappels. It is made from a durable 6 mm accessory cord sewn into a continuous loop. This design gives you a ready‑to‑use prusik or friction backup without tying complex knots.
This Auto Block works as a prusik or Klemheist cord below your rappel device. Climbers attach it from the harness to the brake‑hand side of the rappel rope just below the device. This adds a friction hitch that helps you control descent and adds safety during long rappels.
The loop measures 13.5 inches (about 34 cm) around. It is sized to fit most standard arborist and climbing ropes. You can also use it on ropes 8 mm or larger as a friction hitch or progress capture loop in rescue setups.
Made from rugged cord, this Auto Block is built to handle regular field use. It has a Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) of around 2,810 lb (12.5 kN), giving you confidence in its strength under load.
The sewn loop saves time and reduces gear bulk compared with tied prusik loops. It is light and compact, making it easy to carry in your harness gear loops or pack. This makes the Sterling Auto Block a good choice for arborists, climbers, rescuers, and rope‑access technicians who want a reliable friction hitch ready at a moment’s notice.
Clear colour and sturdy stitching help you see wear and inspect the loop before every use. The simple design also makes it easy for beginners to use safely.
Whether you are setting up a rappel backup or adding a friction device to your rope system, the Sterling 6mm Auto Block 13.5″ Loop gives you a dependable, easy‑to‑deploy solution for height work and rope access.
