Description
Melaleuca leucadendra *broadleaf* is a striking Australian native tree admired for its broad, weeping foliage, distinctive white papery bark and fragrant cream flower spikes. The Broad-leaved Paperbark (Melaleuca leucadendra) features large, soft green leaves with a graceful, weeping habit that creates an elegant canopy. The aromatic foliage releases a pleasant scent when crushed and provides year-round colour and shade.
Masses of fluffy, cream to white flower spikes appear during the flowering season, creating a spectacular display against the green foliage. Rich in nectar, the blooms attract bees, butterflies, honeyeaters and a variety of other native wildlife.
After flowering, the tree produces small, woody capsule fruits that remain clustered along the branches. These persistent seed capsules gradually release seed over time, making the species well suited to natural regeneration and revegetation projects.
