Description
The Petzl Pantin Foot Ascender gives climbers and rope access workers an easier way to climb rope. It is a foot‑mounted ascender that helps you move up a rope with less effort and more control. This tool works with rope clamps like the Petzl Ascension, CROLL, or Basic devices to improve your upward progress.
The Pantin grips the rope and holds it securely when you stand on it. This keeps your body more upright and lets you use your leg strength instead of just pulling with your arms. You climb more efficiently. It makes the first few metres up a rope smoother and faster.
Petzl built the Pantin from aluminium, stainless steel, and high‑modulus polyethylene (HMPE) webbing. These materials resist corrosion and abrasion in tough conditions. The toothed cam bites into the rope reliably, even on dirty or frozen lines. A DOUBLEBACK buckle lets you adjust the loop quickly to match your boot size.
The Pantin has a compact shape that stays close to your foot. It does not snag easily on gear or surrounds. When you need to release it from the rope, a simple backward foot motion frees it. The Pantin also works with an optional catch accessory to help keep the rope in the device during ascent.
This foot ascender weighs about 85 g and fits ropes from 8 to 13 mm in diameter. It comes in both left‑foot and right‑foot versions, so you can choose the side that matches your climbing setup.
Use the Pantin in single‑rope technique (SRT) systems and other vertical progression setups. It pairs well with chest or hand ascenders and helps you climb with less fatigue. Keep it on your kit when you want faster, more efficient rope ascents in the field or at height.
